Everywhere you go for quite longer period away from home, I guess you must have been missing home. You must have missed a house which you lived in, family, park, creek, neighbours, friends, not to mention your best friends. I have several good friends and 5 best of friends in Brisbane. My best of friends who I can have any kind of conversations without filter needed, literally I can say anything I like. I would say my friendship with these 5 girls is one of a kind. We have started develop this close friendship 2 years ago, on my birthday night.

After good one year in Singapore, Ed's company has invited us to dinner in Brisbane. We left Brisbane on Thursday evening, leaving little rascals in Singapore. I have mixed feelings this time, nervous and excited. Nervous because this is my first time leaving children behind with helper and their cousin, Intan, on the other hand, I am very excited about going away with Ed just 2 of us which only happened once in a blue moon. The more important is I am going to see 5 girls who happen to be my best of friends.

The flight arrived Friday morning and as soon as we hit Brisbane airport, we were greeted by warm weather. I have expected cooler condition, then I remember Brisbane has a longer summer. They always have warm weather for about 5 months, compare to other states which have 2 or even 1 month of summer (miserable Canberra for example).

As we waited for our room to be ready, we had a nice super healthy breakfast at a hideaway cafe inside Burnett Lane Felix for Goodness, Brisbane CBD. I had been craving for a good coffee while in Singapore. Don't get me wrong, Singapore coffee is good but there is nothing can beat Australian brewed coffee. The first sip of Australian brewed latte in my mouth was very good. Indescribable feeling.

Early checked in in Oaks Charlotte St was running smoothly, we have a quite high view of Brisbane from the 30th floor.

Then I head off to the office in Turbot St to meet work colleagues. Slightly changes are happening in the office after we left. We used to have a huge office space when the mining industry made it to the top. Now they have decided to divide the office into several small offices, making it into serviced offices and rent them out.

The first lunch meet up is with some ladies I've been quite close. I picked Jimmy's On The Mall as a meet up point as the bistro is a very easy to reach and located in the middle of Queens Street Mall. Here I am finally able to meet Suzi, Jen and Yuni, supposed to meet Marina but she had to work on that day.

The foxy lady Suzi still looks amazing in her late 40. A hardcore boxer who runs her own Brisbane based photography business, Tux and Veil Photography. I believe she is one of Benjamin Button case victims. She doesn't even look aged!

The main thing is I love to see Jen and Yuni's kids. Yuni girls have grown up, as well as Jen's little girl. They are not little girls anymore. Amazing to see they have grown into young ladies. I wish miss Heather was here to meet their long time friends.

At the end of the afternoon, I felt quite overwhelmed with our meeting. Happy to see them, nothing changes in our friendship. As a proverb said "happiness is meeting old friends after long time and feeling that nothing has changed"
